WHSA Annual Training Conference

Each February the Wisconsin Head Start Association holds it 2 1/2 day Annual Training Conference in the Wisconsin Dells.  As our largest event, the Conference typically brings together around 500 participants from all facets of the Head Start community–program directors, managers, and staff, teachers and classroom assistants, family service workers, parents, community partners, and more.  This diverse audience  attends training sessions presented by experts in the following content areas:

  • ACF Regional Priorities and Federal Initiatives
  • Community Partnerships
  • Early Childhood Education & Development
  • Early Head Start
  • Health, Wellness, and Safety
  • Leadership, Professional, and Organizational Development
  • Native American or Migrant/Seasonal Program-Specific Issues
  • Program Design & Management
  • Supporting Families

The Conference serves as a key professional development opportunity for Wisconsin programs.  To enhance the value of participants’ Conference experiences, WHSA submits all training session information to The Registry, Wisconsin’s recognition system for the childhood care and education profession and operator of the Professional Development Approval System (PDAS), so that participants may obtain professional development credit for the training they receive during each session.

The WHSA Conference is planned each year by the Conference Steering Committee.  The Committee is responsible for every aspect of the Conference, from choosing the venue and determining the theme to helping you at the registration desk and deciding on a keynote speaker.  Thanks to our dedicated Conference Steering Committee for a great Conference year after year!
