You’ll find a wealth of information and resources especially for parents on a wide variety of topics.  If you are new to Head Start, ECLKC’s Inside Head Start is a good place to start as it offers answers to frequently asked questions and includes information on parent involvement, personal and professional development, and advocacy and education.

Promoting Responsible Fatherhood Initiative Federal Resource Site

The resources available at the Federal Resource Site will help enable fathers to improve their relationships and reconnect with their children and help fathers overcome obstacles and barriers that often prevent them from being the most effective and nurturing parent possible.  You’ll find information on creating and maintain a healthy marriage or relationship; effective parenting; economic stability; access, visitation, paternity, and child support, and more.  Don’t let the name fool you, this site is not just for dad’s and male role-models–mom’s will find useful information too.

Wisconsin Resources

ACCESS–Your Connection to Wisconsin Programs for Health, Nutrition, and Childcare

ACCESS is the state’s electronic tool to help Wisconsin residents: find out which low or no-cost health, nutrition and other programs they might be able to enroll; apply online for FoodShare, Medicaid, BadgerCare Plus and family planning services; get up-to-date information about the status of their FoodShare, Medicaid, BadgerCare Plus, Family Planning Services, SeniorCare or Caretaker Supplement benefits; report a changes online to your agency, and; renew one’s benefits and submit FoodShare/Child Care Six-Month Report forms.

Department of Workforce Development (DWD)–Information for Workers

DWD’s resources geared towards Wisconsin workers include links to information about employment services, training programs, worker protections, unemployment, and more.

Home Energy +

This website houses information about Wisconsin’s Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) which provides assistance for heating costs, electric costs, and energy crisis situations and Wisconsin’s Weatherization Assistance Program which provides services to reduce home heating bills, resources on how to save energy, and how to make your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.  You’ll find more information about available services and about eligibility on the site.

University of Wisconsin Extension (UWEX) Family Living Program Website

UWEX Family Living Programs respond to community needs with research-based education and partnerships that support Wisconsin families and communities.  The UWEX Family Living Program website is a great go-to source for information about families and communities (family relationships, parenting, child development and the community institutions that promote family well-being); food and nutrition (managing food dollars, planing nutritious meals, and purchasing, preparing, and serving food that is safe and healthy; and, family economics (tracking expenses and addressing the basics of earning, spending, saving, investing, health care, and housing issues).
